Quantum of the Seas
Tuesday, 30 May 2017, 16:45
Set sail from Shanghai, China, aboard Royal Caribbean’s Quantum of the Seas® for 5 nights of relaxation and discovery on this adults-only cruise in Asia. After a day at sea, your first stop is Kumamoto, Japan, called the “City of Woods and Fresh Water” because of its lush surroundings and the Shira-kawa River that runs through the downtown area. Explore the 400-year-old Kumamoto Castle; visit the homes of famous Japanese writers; or shop for traditional, handcrafted toys, pottery and bamboo works during your time on shore.
From Kumamoto you’ll sail to the southeastern coast of South Korea for a stop in Busan. Offering views of towering mountains and beautiful beaches, South Korea’s 2nd-largest city also boasts a rich array of ancient temples, cultural shrines, and art and history museums. The city’s restaurants and cafes provide the perfect setting for exploring the distinctive — and distinctively delicious — local cuisine. Then, after another refreshing day at sea, return to Shanghai and disembark.
What we love:
• Look for Kumamon — or souvenirs with his image — when you visit Kumamoto. The mascot bear with black fur, circular red cheeks and wide eyes is the beloved yuru-kyara, or “loose character,” that represents Kumamoto Prefecture.
• Customers can purchase fresh fish or prepared food at the world-famous Jagalchi Fish Market in Busan, the largest fresh fish market in Korea.
• Shanghai boasts impressive art deco buildings from its prolific growth in the 1920s and 1930s, plus plenty of historic architecture including Jing’an Temple.
• Stay active between ports with an onboard circus school, full-size basketball court, bumper cars and roller skating at the SeaPlex℠, the largest indoor active space at sea.
