Event Description

Women & Leadership: A Spotlight on Current Perspectives
Illsley Ball Nordstrom Recital Hall, Benaroya Hall
5:30pm - 6:45pm
FREE, OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

Women in positions of power continue to operate within a paradox - positioned and looked upon to mentor and empower other women, all the while dealing with inherent workplace biases and unrealistic expectations of performance and work/life balance. This panel hopes to examine the causes of women's underrepresentation in leadership roles in business, politics, and the arts, as well as suggest what we can do to change the status quo.

The moderator for the public event will be Laurie Nash, Executive Vice President of Russell Reynolds, someone who has explored this issue and has deep knowledge about the challenges women leaders across the non-profit sector face. Joining her will be Phyllis Campbell, Chairman of the Pacific Northwest division of JP Morgan Chase & Co, who has also previously served as the President/CEO of the Seattle Foundation; Kathryn Kolbert, the Constance Hess Williams Director of the Athena Center for Leadership Studies at Barnard College; Sheila Edwards Lange, Ph.D, President of Seattle Central College; Kimerly Rorschach, Illsley Ball Nordstrom Director and CEO, Seattle Art Museum; and Sylvia Wolf, John S. Behnke Director, Henry Art Gallery.
